My name is Kelly, my husband Simon and I welcomed Osian into the world in June 2011 at Singleton Hospital, Swansea. It was a difficult birth and after several failed attempts to bring him into the world with instruments, Osian suffered a fractured skull. The fractured skull gave Osian an infarction in his middle cerebral artery as well as minor bleeds in other parts of his brain. After three weeks in NICU we discovered Osian has a left side hemi. This has been difficult for us to come to terms with. However we are a positive family and look forward to the future. Osian attend physio weekly and is the most delightful baby I have ever seen. His smile is infectious and is a joy to be around. However, I worry what Osian's future holds. Osian has two sisters who adore him and is surrounded by love.

Hi Kelly

Welcome to HemiHelp! I have a little boy ( Jake ) he is nearly 6 and he has right sided hemi!

All i want to say is over the past 5 years - Jake has done extermely well ! He is always proving his physio & speacialists wrong ! I hope Osian does the same too!

I was exactly the same when Jake was younger ... very scared of him growing up and how he would cope!

What is it you worry about ?

Love Lauren

Hello welcome to Hemihelp Kelly & Osian!

I am 22 years old, I have left hemiplegia too. I was diagnosed at 9 months old. No idea of the cause though.

The fact that you're all so positive is great. I think a positive outlook is the best asset you can have with hemiplegia!

I'd be more than happy to answer any questions that you have.
