Hi There
Welcome to this site.
My son is also right hemi (mild) and is 11 1/2 years of age. We haven't as yet tried Lamotragine only Carbamazepine with keppra (which he only started about 4 weeks ago). Carbamazepine not fully controlling seizures that is why keppra was introduced. 4 weeks without any seizues (yipee).
You will find some meds work with some people others don't ,its just trying to find that med that works best for them.
Take care
Lisa

Hi Lisa
Thanks so much for the reply My son is 9 years old and has been on Lamotragine 18 mths ish, is it so wrong for him but our neuro guy thinks it is the bees knees!!! He has become a little zombie ish (for want of a better word )!! He has fallen a little bit behind in maths as he seems unable to concentrate on his work .I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is going to be better !! The only side affect we have had so far (4 days in !) Is about 5pmish he seems to stagger around like he has had one too many gin and tonic's !!!!! Has your son had any odd side affects with the keppra ???

Hello Rachael
At the moment no side effects. The only thing we are finding that he can get very sleepy and don't seem to have much energy as he did before he started medication (which was when he started carbamazepine and seems to be the same now). I will say also, his awareness levels aren't so great as he takes quite a high dose of med and communication skills aren't that brilliant either.

Hi Rachel,
My daugher has ls hemi and suffers with epilesy, started on carbmezipine which led to terrible lethargy, sleeping all the time and terrible weight gain. After convincing Shan's neurologist she finally made the swap for us to keppra, it has been great for Shannon, more controlled seizures and less sleepy.
I know it can all be very scary when changing meds but I am sure Keppra will be great.
Good Luck
