Research Study

Hi All,

my name is Grit and I am a PhD student at the University of Aberdeen. I am writing to ask if you would like to participate in our research study being conducted in the north-east of Scotland.

The study aims to find out if a new treatment, called transcranial direct current stimulation, can improve arm and hand movement in hemiplegia. The treatment involves applying a very small current across the scalp for about 20 minutes at a time for two treatments.

There are a number of parts to the study including a brain scan session. In total, it is expected that participation takes about six hours and would be arranged to take place over five sessions at your convenience.

This research follows on from my previous interview/focus group study that gathered views from parents and children on the use of this treatment.

Please see the attached information sheet (version for guardians) for more information and details of what the study will involve.

We are looking for children (10 years and older) and adults with hemiplegia to take part in this research. Please note that those with a history of seizures or epilepsy are unfortunately unable to take part in the study.

Travel expenses will be refunded and you will also be compensated for your time.

If you would like more information on the study or wish to take part, please DO NOT respond to this post, and instead please contact me directly:

Online Survey Study

Hello!

My name is Amy and I have left hemiplegia. Currently, I am studying for an MSc in Health Psychology. As part of my course, I have to complete a research study. I decided to do mine in cerebral palsy, in particular, looking at the if wearing a splint has any effects on the self worth and identity of a teenager. I am looking for volunteers aged between 16-20 to participate in my online questionnaire study. All responses will be confidential and anonymous. It should take around 15 minutes to complete, but it doesn't matter if it takes longer. Please click on the link if you would like to participate!

Thanks in advance,

Jeans & Shorts - Elasticated And Trendy !

Hi
my son Sam (10, mild LH) has always struggled with trying to pull / do up jeans as the material is quite stiff. He has tended to go out with his friends in tracksuit bottoms as they are easy to slide off if he needs the loo !

I have now found the new style jeans that are around at the moment - they are elasticated at the top and so easy to slide down and up NEXT have a lot of different ones and also shorts for the summer - I have ordered some for Sam for the next couple of years just to be on the safe side !!

Thought it might help others
