hi,
please let me know how you get on with the ballet,
so many little girls in Hopes nursery/reception go to dance class,
and i've been dreading her asking if she can go too,
i don't want to say no but i don't want to set her up for feeling bad if she can't do it/keep up.....
good luck

Hi
Freya started ballet classes in November. She had seen it on some kids tv programme and kept going on about it. I spoke to the class teacher who was happy to accept her and we decided it would be great physio for her. (She is only mildly affected by her hemi, but she does wear piedros and has a heel raise due to her right leg being shorter).
Freya just wears normal ballet shoes. Her right shoe is huge on her as her right foot is 1.5 sizes smaller (I decided it wasn't worth forking out for 2 pairs at this stage). She doesn't wear her piedros in the house so I saw it as just like her being bare foot at home.
She has been doing really well. I don't go in the classes, only have the odd peep through the door. She holds on to a chair or the wall when she needs extra support.
She is only 3.5 so I think at this age it is just about having fun. They are doing a show for the parents in a couple of weeks so I will know more about how she copes then. But she absolutely loves it and can't wait to go each week.
My only advice really is to just book in for a trial class and see how she gets on. Good luck!

hi there
thank you for your replies, i will keep you informed. I think it will be brilliant for all girls to try and my thinking is especially if it helps with her balance and provides physio by stretching etc.... I hope that by including my lo in all the same activities as her peers it will give her the confidence to try everything and feel no different than others. I realise she may notice she is more different by doing such a physical activity as she may be slower/clumsy etc...but she loves Angelina Ballerina!! and her and sister are always trying to do shows at home, i feel like their are lots of positives that could come from it.
I just feel worried about her footwear really as the piedros make such a difference to her walking/balance etc.... will definately do a trial and feel confident now knowing that your little girls loves it so much.
thank you

Hi
My little girl has been doing ballet for a year now. She is now 4 1/2 and loves it. I was worried about how she would cope - would she be able to do it, would she stand out as struggling - she doesn't notice a thing and loves it. When I got to the class there are 3 little girls in her class with similar conditions, all of whom wear splints everyday, but just wear normal ballet shoes for the class -- and all of them love it.
Let your girls go and try-- they will soon tell you if they don't want to carry on.
Thanks
Sarah
