Hi Sharon,
no, Imogen did get a place at Mickleover Primary, but in the end we felt that the headteacher at Silverhill would be much more flexible and think out of the box more for Imogen. Mickleover pr was very calm, neat and tidy and very structured. I think Immi (she also has ADHD) would have really struggled with this side of things.
I am now a governor at Silverhill, so I can put my oar in a bit more (and they have to be nice to me!!!) I went to see the SENCo this morning as I was a bit concerned about teh targets the teacher had written as they were all to do with Imogen sitting still!! She was great and knew straight away where I was coming from. She also has a new TA (I was on the interview panel) and she is great (though I thin she is struggling with the teacher too!! Only 5 weeks to go!!)

It would be great to meet in the summer, we can organise something nearer the time.

Is this Mickleover primary school, because my sister in law used to work there. A teacher I am working with at the moment is from that school and she still in contact with a few of the teachers. I did exactly as you are doing. I joined the school parent group and the governing body , that way I got to know the school more, had more impact and built up a fab relationship with the teachers. Hope things getting better.

Sharon

I will send you a message next time we are through to Derby - we tend to go quite frequently but it is usually in the holidays. I am bit poorly at the moment with an ear infection which is why I may have made a typing mistake on the last message. My sister in law used to work at 'Silverhill' and both my nephew and niece went to silverhill many years ago. One of the Teachers I work with at the moment used to work at Silverhill and I know she still misses it (she is always saying how lovely the children were) . Our school has a lot more challenging children and I think it was a bit of a shock to her system after silverhill. I think you are doing the right thing being a governor. This is exactly the attitude we had with Emma at primary - in fact my husband has carried it on even though Emma isnt there anymore. It is great to be involved and build relationships with Staff. It would be great to meet up and hopefully we could help in some way as Emma is doing so well. i am sure imogen will benefit from having caring parents and a good primary is a great start. Confidentially what is Imogen's Teacher called? She sounds like she is really trying to undestand imogen. Quite honestly even at a good caring school, sometimes if our children are doing so well , teachers just forget they have a problem. Take care Sharon xx

Hi Nicola,

What an awful appointment! It was unfair (or unfortunate) of the physio to behave in this way when all you wanted was to ensure the report was correct for your son. I do hope you are sorted now. I have updated my post on Applying for statements in yr 7 as we are still having a difficult time. Why does everything have to be such hard work?

Take care,
Pamela

Hi Sharon,
sorry for such a long delay in replying we went away for a weekend and I just haven't logged on since then....I hope by now your ear infection is better. If you are coming through I would love to meet up. My email is kdgolder@googlemail.com whenyou are coming let me know through this address then I definitely won't miss it!!
Some good news we have is that Imogen has a new TA and she is FANTASTIC!! It has really helped. I really feel like she is on Immi's side and champions her in the class. Don't really want to put the teacher's name here but will chat sometime....
look forward to hearing from you,
Karen
PS Immi has an MRI on Wed....
