when samuel was born after the first six months i knew something wasn't quite right but didnt know what. it took until he was 15 months old before they finally sent us to the specialist and we were told samuel had a left hemi...i was devestated at first, blamed myself and then thought samuels life was doomed. HOW WRONG COULD I BE HE IS SIX NOW AND A REAL CHARACTER. he does have his problems as his tantrums are awful and he lacks social communication skills. his reading and writing is poor but his maths is fantastic. he loves music and sings along with everything albeit the wrong words. he had a surgical release two years ago although just recently he seems to be tightening up again. Samuel can be really hard work but at the end of the day if he never had the hemi he wouldn't have the personality he has and i wouldn't change that for the world!

I enjoyed reading your blog. Your story is like mine. I didn't know what was wrong with my son and found out about his hemi when he was about 17 months. He hits bites other children sometimes even us when he is very happy and excited. at the moment I am going through another worry which is he has a narrow blood vessel on his good side.
I am proud of you how you are coping coz I know how hard it is. Sometimes I would think life is against me.
