HemiHelp: Ethan Pulled A Fast One! - HemiHelp

Hi, My name is Vicky and i have 3 children, Joseph who is 9. Isaac who is 6 and Ethan who is 5. Ethan has left hemi and hydrocephalus, which has also resulted in him having a learning difficulty and visual impairment. He also has a genetic condition known as neurofibromatosis type 1. Despite all this, he is a little angel (little being the operative word, as at 5 and a half, he is in 12-18 month clothes size) and is attending a mainstream school with extra help and is doing extremely well. He learnt to walk at 4 and although he gets tired and falls easily, he is getting stronger by the day.
Due to his hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain), ethan can suffer headaches quite regularly and a serious headache can be a sign tht his shunt isnt working properly, (his shunt drains fluid from his brain to his stomach and without this he would not be alive today!!!!) we have had many stays in hospital ruling out shunt problems whn he becomes unwell, but luckily he still has the original shunt that was put in whn he was 6 months old which seems to b qutie rare!!!!! Anyway, Ethan is now in year 1 in school and seems to be enjoyin it - he has loved school since day 1 and makes friends easily. This morning tho, he claimed to have a headache, which of course worried me so i decided to keep him home to kp an eye on him. he's never tried to get out of school before but i suppose ther is a first time for everything as within half an hr he seemed perfectly well and full of energy!!!! theres obviously no problem mentally,lol as he certainly knew how to pull the wool over my eyes!!!! Its funny really but he WILL be going to school tomorrow,lol.
